Show them their own results before you explain anything.
Run a small test. Take 8 to 10 questions a customer would ask about the client's category and location. Run them on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, and 1 or 2 other engines. Capture who is named and which sources are cited. Bring the screenshots to the call.
Tell a simple story. "People ask AI assistants for recommendations now. Here is what they were told about your business and your competitors, and here is where the answers came from." Skip the acronyms. GEO and AEO mean nothing to most owners.
Connect it to what they already know. AI visibility extends search. The same pages, reviews, and mentions matter. If the client already pays for SEO, this is a new place to measure and improve the same work.
Avoid claims you cannot support. Do not quote usage statistics unless you have a source you can name. Do not promise mentions.
Make the offer small and specific. A one-time audit that covers prompts, a baseline, and a plan, with a clear price and a clear deliverable. Then a monthly tracking and fixes tier for those who want it.

If you use Doily, the Team and Agency plans include a prospect pipeline and a free audit form for your own site, so interested clients can request a check from you. Each Quick audit has a share link and a PDF, which makes a handy leave-behind.
