Report links, PDFs, and opens
Doily is opening soon. These articles describe how the product works at launch.
Quick answer
A report share link expires after 90 days by default, and you can change the expiry or revoke the link at any time. Each link has a policy: public, password, or login. Doily tracks opens, so you can see who opened a report and when.
Before you start
- A report you want to share
Steps
-
Create a share link
Open the report and create a link. The link shows the live report, so it matches what is in Doily.
-
Set the link policy
Choose public if anyone with the link may view, password if viewers need a password, or login if viewers must sign in.
-
Set the expiry
Links expire after 90 days by default. You can lengthen or shorten that period.
-
Download a PDF if you need a file
A PDF is a fixed copy of the report. It is useful for email attachments and meetings.
-
Review opens
Opens are tracked and shown as, for example, Opened by a client on Oct 8, 2026. Use this to time a follow-up.
-
Revoke a link if it was shared by mistake
Revoking a link stops it from working immediately, and you can create a new one.
Tips
- Send the link and the PDF together when a client wants to forward the report to someone else.
- Use the password or login policy for reports with sensitive numbers.
- Share the live link for ongoing updates, and send a PDF when you want a fixed copy.
Troubleshooting
A client says the link no longer works. Why?
The link has expired or was revoked. Create a new link and set a longer expiry if needed.
Does sharing a report use credits?
Only AI actions in the report builder cost credits, at 5 credits each. Sharing a link or downloading a PDF does not.
Can I change a link's policy after I send it?
Yes. Update the policy or the expiry on the link. Revoking the link stops it from working altogether.
How do I know who opened a report?
Doily tracks opens. Use the password or login policy when you need to know who opened it.
