Set up a custom domain and sender
Doily is opening soon. These articles describe how the product works at launch.
Quick answer
Agency plans can use their own domain for the client portal and send reports from their own email address. You add a few DNS records, and Doily shows live status for each one. Until the sender is verified, reports go from a Doily fallback address. Team can add a custom report domain for $29 a month.
Before you start
- Access to your domain's DNS settings
- A subdomain in mind, such as portal.youragency.com for the portal and mail.youragency.com for email
Steps
-
Know your default address
Every agency starts on a Doily subdomain. A custom domain replaces it so clients see only your address.
-
Add your portal domain
In Branding, enter the subdomain you want, such as portal.youragency.com. Doily shows the DNS records to add: a CNAME and a TXT ownership record.
-
Wait for the domain to go live
Doily checks the records and shows live status while the certificate is issued. When it shows active, clients can use the new address.
-
Add your email sender
Enter a From address on a subdomain, such as [email protected]. A subdomain keeps your main domain's email settings untouched.
-
Add the three email records
Doily shows the DNS records to add. They cover signing, the return path, and the recommended sender policy. Each record shows Verified, Pending, or Failed.
-
Send a test report
When the records verify, send a report to yourself and check the sender name, the address, and the branding.
Tips
- Agency plans can also rename the product, such as Your Agency Insights. The new name appears in the app header, emails, and PDFs.
- The login page on your custom domain carries your branding. Sessions are per domain, so there is no shared sign-in between your domain and the Doily app.
- The mobile app is one Doily app. Branding applies after a user enters their email or workspace code.
Troubleshooting
Why does the domain still show Pending?
DNS changes can take time to spread. Check that each record matches exactly, then wait for the status to update.
What happens to reports before the sender is verified?
They go from a Doily fallback address with your agency name as the sender and your address as the reply-to.
Can Team use a custom domain?
Team can add the custom report domain for $29 a month. It covers report links and report email, while the full white label is on Agency.
