Send alerts to Slack
Doily is opening soon. These articles describe how the product works at launch.
Quick answer
Connect Slack from Integrations, then choose a channel for each alert category. The default channel is #doily-alerts. Slack is optional. Alerts also appear in the app, so turning Slack on adds a second place to see them, and you can change or remove it at any time.
Before you start
- Permission to add apps in your Slack workspace
- A Slack channel for Doily alerts
Steps
-
Connect Slack
Open Integrations, choose Slack, and approve access. Slack is a workspace connection, so you set it up once for the whole workspace rather than for each client.
-
Pick a channel for each category
Choose where each alert category should post. By default, all categories go to #doily-alerts.
-
Keep noisy categories separate
Send frequent alerts to a quiet channel, and send the most important ones to a channel your team watches.
-
Check that alerts arrive
When an alert fires, a message appears in the channel you chose. If it does not, confirm that the Doily app is in that channel.
-
Change or remove the connection
You can change channels or disconnect Slack at any time. Alerts continue to appear in the app.
Tips
- Create a #doily-alerts channel before you connect, so the default works immediately.
- Connection warnings, such as Needs attention: reconnect, can also post to Slack.
Troubleshooting
Alerts are not showing up in Slack. What should I check?
Open the Slack connection and look at its status. If it says Needs attention, reconnect it. Also confirm that the Doily app is a member of the channel.
Can I send different alerts to different channels?
Yes. You choose a channel for each alert category.
What kinds of alerts can Slack receive?
Alert categories group related alerts. Examples are AI visibility alerts, such as a mention that disappeared, and connection warnings, such as Needs attention: reconnect.
Do I need Slack to get alerts?
No. Alerts appear in the app whether or not Slack is connected.
