Set up your first project
Doily is opening soon. These articles describe how the product works at launch.
Quick answer
Set up a project by adding your domain and competitors, choosing where your customers search, adding keywords and prompts, and connecting Google. Doily then runs your first checks. Your plan sets how many domains, competitors, keywords, and prompts you can add, and Free covers 1 domain plus 1 competitor.
Before you start
- Your website address
- The main country, state, or city where your customers search
- A short list of competitors, if you have them
Steps
-
Add your domain
Enter the website you want to track. Each plan sets how many domains a workspace can hold: 1 on Free and Starter, and 5 on Team.
-
Add competitors
Add the sites you compete with in search. Free includes 1 competitor, Starter 3, and Team 5 for each domain.
-
Choose location and device
Pick the country or area where customers search and the device they use. Keywords are tracked in pools, and pools split by country, area, device, and engine.
-
Add keywords and prompts
Add the search terms you want to rank for, and the questions customers might ask an AI engine. Write prompts at state level and include the state.
-
Connect Google
Connect Google Search Console and Google Analytics so Doily can show real clicks and traffic next to your rankings.
-
Wait for the first checks
Results appear after the first checks run. Free checks weekly. Paid plans check prompts daily, and rankings are checked daily on Google.
Tips
- A keyword that sits in 2 pools uses 2 keyword slots, so start with one pool for your main market.
- Begin with a short list of keywords and prompts you care about, then add more once you have read the first results.
Troubleshooting
Can I change the location after I start?
Yes. Add a new pool for the new location. Because a keyword in 2 pools counts as 2 slots, remove pools you no longer need.
Why do I see no data yet?
Results appear after the first checks run. On Free, checks run weekly, so the first results can take a few days.
Where do I see how many slots I have used?
Your plan limits and usage are shown in Plans and Billing.
